Continual eye care service
There are always ophthalmologists and surgeons who cover all specialist areas at our Emergency Service. Our team is qualified to get you diagnosed quickly, provide you with the most effective treatment and that great human touch, too.
How it works
Should you wish to use our Emergency Ophthalmology Service, we will follow our healthcare guidelines:
- Arrive at reception, where the patient should provide their personal information and indicate the reason for their emergency visit.
- See an ophthalmologist, to get a diagnosis and have the right treatment prescribed—medical or surgical.
- Complementary tests may be necessary to determine the correct diagnosis such as prescription glasses, optical coherence tomography, ultrasonography, radiological studies or a fluorescein angiography.
- Schedule a follow-up appointment if necessary to discharge the patient.
When should I go to the Emergency Department?
It is essential to go to the Emergency Service if you experience pain, a loss of vision, and obviously if you have had an accident causing eye trauma, so that a consultant can assess your case as soon as possible. These are some of the emergency cases our Centre sees to:
- Excessive tear production
- Red eye
- Discharge in the eyes or excess rheum
- Bleeding
- Floaters
- Foreign body sensation
- Eye inflammation
- Stye
- Eye trauma
- Eye dryness
