Yesterday, Tuesday 8 April, as part of the “Mirem per tu” programme, a team from the Barraquer Foundation travelled to the Casal dels Infants in Santa Coloma de Gramenet to carry out comprehensive eye check-ups for adolescents in vulnerable situations, thanks to the current collaboration agreement with the Probitas Foundation.
Established in 2008, the Probitas Foundation is a non-profit organisation focused on promoting access to healthcare for vulnerable populations, both nationally and internationally. Its work particularly centres on the protection and wellbeing of children in contexts of social exclusion.
During the day, a total of 24 minors aged between 12 and 17 were attended to. Of these, 13 will soon need to go to General Optica to have their prescriptions adjusted and to receive their glasses; another 4 will be referred to the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre for a more thorough examination, while the remaining 9 were found to have adequate visual health.
We would especially like to thank Dr Claudia Andino and Dr Sebastián Arrús, from the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre, as well as María Fuentes, optometrist at General Optica, for their valuable contribution to this charitable initiative.
