Despite the difficulties caused by the current pandemic situtation, last Wednesday, January 20, following the planned schedule of the 'Mirem per tu' program, a team from the Barraquer Foundation went to the Fundació Albert, located in the Born district of Barcelona, to carry out comprehensive eye check-ups of children in vulnerable situations.
During the eye check-ups day, we visited a total of 26 boys and girls between 3 and 13 years of age. 8 of them will have to go to General Optica in the coming weeks to undergo a more exhaustive optometric examination, determine the exact prescription and get glasses that allow them to solve their vision problems. The remaining 18, luckily, enjoy good visual health, so on this occasion it will not be necessary for anyone to visit the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center.
We are especially grateful for the significant contribution of doctors Cristina Arbó and Álvaro Ferragut, both MIRs from the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center, and José Ángel Morales, optometrist from Rambla Catalunya store of the General Optica. We also want to highlight the great work of our colleagues from the Fundació Albert, who organized the visits impeccably and made our work much easier at all times.
In February we will continue our check-up itinerary at the Instituto de Trabajo y Servicios Sociales (Institute of Work and Social Services,INTRESS), another of the social entities that benefit from the 'Mirem per tu' programme.
